"The Five Documents Needed When Seeking Angel Investor Money and How Investors Conduct the Screening Process"

Entrepreneurs can search the web and easily discover what content is required for a typical business plan. Content alone, however, does not guarantee success in stimulating an investor's interest. An entrepreneur must know how to frame their opportunity in very few words and, equally important, to effectively present the opportunity when they have stimulated interest. This year we are expanding our annual Business Plan 101 Program with a Guest Speaker. We will continue to explore the elements of the written plan but will now also focus on the essential components of winning pitches and presentations. Our Guest Speaker will go beyond the basics by sharing the inside perspective of those who have the capital and are looking for projects that satisfy specific objectives by providing the elements and mechanism that Angel Investors and Ventur Capitalists use to score during the screening process. Developing a comprehensive business plan documents whether a business has the potential to make a profit and generate a satisfactory return. The plan requires a realistic look at every aspect of the business and demonstrates that an entrepreneur knows the risks and has decided on a strategic program before actually launching the business. A greater skill is creating a short Executive Summary that in a quick read will stir the investor to make a follow-up call. The greatest skill is artfully crafting the presentation that convinces the investor that the deal makes sense and you, the entrepreneur, are the one to back.
