Grand Opening of SkyLab

Samantha Burkart Co-Founder, Entrepreneurship, Founders, Networking, News

The Launch Pad has been committed to advocating and supporting startups on the University of Miami campus. It has been clear that a collaborative space where clients could work out of would be needed. With the financial support of our gracious donor. We were able to find a space and offer this essential resource to the CANE community. We wanted to create an environment that encompassed an entrepreneurial and creative feel, but would also allow people to: meet with others, work on their businesses, collaborate on projects, or just have a place to brainstorm. We liked the concept of WeWork and how their co-working spaces function. So, in February of 2019, we opened our own co-working space: SkyLab!

SkyLab is an on-campus space for all students, alumni, faculty, and staff that are affiliated with The Launch Pad to use. The 3,000 square-foot building features an immense, open work area with one private conference room and numerous tables, colorful chairs, and whiteboards that can easily be arranged to meet your work needs. A mural by a local Miami artist covers the majority of the space to create an inspirational feel. We wanted SkyLab to be a place for working, but also emanate a fun, original feel.

SkyLab is also home to many events that we host, including speaker series, workshops, startup roundtables, pitch events, and conferences. We allow the space to be rented out for other events as well. This unique and new space makes it a great asset and resource for the community.

Want to have access to SkyLab for free? If you’re a TLP client, come to our office so we can give you a unique access code. If you’re not affiliated with The Launch Pad, register for an account on our website so we can approve you. SkyLab is open for you to work out of from 9am-6pm every Monday – Friday. We hope you enjoy the space as much as we do. Happy co-working!
