The Cuba Study Group is a non-profit, non-partisan 501c3 organization. The group is a thought leader in the moderate Cuban-American community that supports diplomatic and commercial relations with Cuba as a means of improving the lives of the Cuban people. It is composed of 39 Cuban-American civic and business leaders located throughout the U.S. CSG produces academically rigorous White Papers; educates government agency and congressional policymakers; promotes the growth of Cuba’s entrepreneurs and civil society; and coordinates its efforts with a constellation of other organizations operating in the Cuba sector.
Spanish fluency and knowledge of the Cuban-American community is a must. Candidates based in South Florida will have an advantage over those residing elsewhere. The candidate must have or be working toward a Bachelor’s Degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or other related major, or a proven track record in those fields. Mastery of the following platforms is a must: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn. Video editing skills using iMovie, Adobe Premiere, GoPro Studio, or other similar movie editing software is highly recommended. Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop or other professional photo editing software is a plus. Strong writing skills are a must.
The employee will work with the Executive Director on setting priorities, including: website management, content distribution, managing media relationships, sourcing op-eds, posting to social media, and coordinating public forums/events. The employee will be expected to manage all of Cuba Study Group’s social media accounts in a manner that will strengthen its messaging and broaden its audience. He/she will formulate and execute a strategy to revamp the group’s use of social media, including utilizing new and improving the use of current platforms. He/she will assist the Chair and Vice Chair with managing the Communications Committee (organizing events, planning committee meetings, meeting logistics and note-taking, action plan document management, etc.). The employee will contribute to the delivery of action plan items by managing tactical execution of projects. A high-performing employee may expect a broadened portfolio and promotion.
