When I was a kid, my dad had a dream in which he was told to invent these children’s shoes, called Bobbi-Toads. He was given the idea and the name, told to immediately get a patent, and instructed to give back to a specific charity with the profits from starting this company. Seeing as he was never into fashion and hadn’t heard of the charity before, it was all very strange. Wait for it, though…it gets crazier. Right after having this vividly divine dream, he returned to work at the family print shop and was welcomed by a job from a new customer: the charity from in his dream, one that was unknown to him just days before.
In May of 2012, after graduating from the University of Miami where I studied Marketing, Finance, & Anthropology, my dad retired from the successful printing business he started 34 years prior, and we knew it was our time to turn this dream into a reality. We launched in October 2012, and have since been selling online and in stores across the USA and are working with distributers in Japan, Venezuela, and Germany. While this is still just the very beginning, I have my own dreams [figuratively, unlike my dad] consisting mainly of designing and philanthropic work.
The original line of Bobbi-Toads Paintables is designed so that you can paint (and repaint!) the “toes” with nail polish for a custom look every time you wear them.
In November 2014, we introduced Bobbi-Toads Light-Ups by Jacquelynn Rae. They are ‘All the Flash without the Splash’ — you don’t paint these ones because the toes light up in five different-colored LEDs with each step. If kids still want to get creative and customize, they can decorate with our Bobbi-Stickers nail stickers.
We hope you enjoy your Bobbi-Toads and letting your creativity go wild, just as we did creating them!
