Agile Requirements and Planning Workshop

January 23, 2017 @ 8:30 am - January 24, 2017 @ 5:00 pm

The increased speed of change brought about by the volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous nature of today’s world requires a value driven, iterative, and adaptive approach to requirements and planning. It requires a collaborative effort that involves both the team doing the work and the stakeholders who impact, or are impacted by that work. This Agile Requirements and Planning Workshop offers participants the first hand knowledge, experience, and confidence to tackle the requirements and planning of projects / products and services using an Agile, value driven and adaptive approach.
Beginning with a clear understanding of how Agile requirements and planning differ from a more traditional approach, participants take a deep dive into User Stories – learning how to collaboratively elicit and capture requirements from the perspective of the user and how to structure those requirements into vertical slivers of functionality that enable early and frequent delivery of value. Participants deepen their understanding of the new and critical role of Product Owner, introduced by the Scrum Framework, and the evolving role of the Business Analyst in creating a shared understanding of the work and ensuring the team is building the right product/service.
The hands-on experiential nature of the workshop has participants working in teams to simulate real-world requirements elicitation and planning through a team project – using popular and effective Agile tools and techniques including Personas, Product Visioning, User Story Mapping, User Story Writing, High Speed Estimating, Planning Poker, Story Splitting, Acceptance Criteria and more.
The Agile planning process is incomplete without the elements of inspection and adaptation. Throughout the workshop, participants learn how to use feedback loops that are part of Scrum and other Agile methodologies to more accurately forecast outcomes and adapt when circumstances demand it to ensure the product or service delivered consistently delights customers and generates business value.
