Join us for a panel of women leaders in tech to talk breaking in, success, challenges and navigating a fast paced environment. We have four amazing panelists, being monitored by Wyncode’s own co-founder, Johanna Mikkola.
Laura Maydon, managing director at Endeavor Miami.
Rebekah Monson, co-founder of WhereBy.Us.
Lauren Leibowitz, Software Engineer at CareCloud.
Nathali Amaro, founder at Honey Words App.
Andrea Bailey, Developer with 10 years experience (now teaching for Wyncode!)
Does this gender ratio look all too familiar?
Yeah…us too.
Tech is one of the hardest industries for anyone to break into nowadays. However, as any woman who has been in a fantasty-football loving, video-game and Star Trek enthusiast office may know, it can be particularly hard for women to be considered a “culture fit” in some tech offices.
Women often don’t even think about tech as an option for a future career. For a while now, the industry has been marketed to a primarily male population (despite the strong influence of women early on in computer science history).
However, we are lucky enough to be in a city whose tech industry is being built from the ground up around its own diverse population. Right here in Miami, we have incredible female leaders taking charge in our community.
Wyncode is excited to host a panel of just a few of these amazing women at our brand new Wynbase campus in Wynwood. It will be moderated by Wyncode’s very own female co-founder, Johanna Mikkola. Our panelists will share personal stories of both successes and challenges along their professional journeys, advice on how to break into the industry, and tips about how to succeed as a woman in tech.
(Our panel host above right, Wyncode co-founder Johanna Mikkola, is a pro at navigating all male work environments in the tech world and beyond.)
Our panel will be followed by a Q&A session, and the event will include time to meet and greet the panelists and other attendees before and after the panel. Wine and snacks will be served.
