About the Instructor
I’m David Bisset. I create robust, meaningful sites—for everyone from small organizations and startups to Fortune 500 companies.
I’ve been building unique WordPress themes and plugins since WordPress 1.5 (that’s 2005). I’ve been with BuddyPress since the beginning (version 0.1). I’ve been a full-time freelance developer for over a decade.
I’ve had to wear a number of hats in the past… Application Developer, Front End Developer, Backend Programmer, Database Administrator, Project Manager in a wide variety of companies and startups. I have been working as a full-time freelancer and consultant for over a decade. Most of this time as been spent as a WordPress developer in the South Florida / Miami / Ft. Lauderdale area.
I’m particularly interested and focused on startup projects and anything WordPress/BuddyPress related. Of course, i’m always interested in building cutting edge interactive applications, especially if they use WordPress. I love to push WordPress and BuddyPress to the limit. I prefer to code with CodeIgnitor for stand-alone PHP applications.
I am also an amateur speaker, speaking at several conferences, WordCamps, meetups, BarCamps, and Refresh Miami events. I don’t speak often, but try to at least speak a few times a year. If you can stand the sound of my voice, you can check out what podcasts i’ve been on recently.
Privileged to be a founding member of WordCamp Miami (an annual conference about WordPress that brings in over 750+ people each year) and have organized it from 2010 to 2015.
