Presented by The Miami Herald’s Nancy Dahlberg & Agency Byrnes Communications’ Brian Byrnes
Being proactive in public relations efforts and in cultivating strong relationships with the media are vital for any business — particularly startups. Whether raising funding, launching a product, expanding into new markets or scaling, a solid communications strategy is key to reaching journalists, investors, and customers alike. Everyone and everything has a story, but identifying these stories — and the angles and anecdotes that will appeal to both the press and the public — is often a harrowing task for entrepreneurs.
In this Refresh Miami workshop, two experts from the world of PR and media, Brian Byrnes — director of Miami-based Agency Byrnes Communications — and Nancy Dahlberg — entrepreneurship and tech beat writer for The Miami Herald — will provide insightful tips and lead hands-on exercises aimed at preparing startups to make more informed communications decisions.
Topics to be covered include:
Creating the perfect media “pitch”
“Earned” vs. “Paid” media
Planning and budgeting for a PR campaign
Setting realistic media objectives
Press release creation and distribution
Media Training
Social media strategy
