Sea Level Rise Monthly Meeting & Hack Night

How does sea level rise impact our built environment, and how can data and technology help inform communities and government officials about where vulnerabilities exist and what could be done to make South Florida more resilient? Code for Miami-Sea Level Rise hosts Dr Thomas Spiegelhalter. Associate Professor and Co-Director of the Structural and Environmental Technologies Laboratory at FIU, and Feng Xu and Umberto Grosso, researchers from the University of Genoa, who will speak about their work on architecture and sea level rise, and begin a conversation about how public data, crowd-sourced information and technology may be harnessed to help South Florida mitigate the effects of, or adapt to the reality of climate change.
This is the first monthly event on climate change and technology co-hosted by Florida International University’s Sea Level Solutions Center (http://slsc.fiu.edu/), School of Communication and Journalism (https://scj.fiu.edu/) and Code for Miami. Please contact Dr. Susan Jacobson susanjacobson at gmail dot com if you have questions.
