StartUP FIU will be holding a series of summer seminars and workshops conducted by creative professionals prior to its official launch this Fall. This is your chance to integrate with StartUP FIU’s creative community and acquire the skills needed to successfully apply to our program. For this Speaker Series edition, we are partnering with Wyncode to bring you a unique experience. Come and listen to a conversation between two successful entrepreneurs. Bob Hacker, StartUP FIU Director, and Johanna Mikkola, Wyncode co-founder, will open the night sharing their experiences in the field and how they see the Miami tech community growing every day. Johanna Mikkola is the Co-founder of Wyncode Academy is a leading accelerated learning program in Florida and the first coding school to be licensed by the Florida Department of Education’s Commission for Independent Education. Johanna was selected as an Endeavor Entrepreneur in June 2015 at the International Selection Panel in Amman, Jordan joining a prestigious network of over 1000 high-impact entrepreneurs around the globe. Johanna is an Entrepreneur-in-Residence for Babson College and sits on the advisory board of eMerge Americas. What is Wyncode? Wyncode Academy’s curriculum is based on several industry leading concepts and input from other development bootcamps. Your typical day begins with an instructor-led session about a particular concept followed by time to apply what you have learned in a practical, project-based example – often mimicking websites or popular web applications that you already know and use. Who is Bob Hacker? Bob has taught traditional and social entrepreneurship at FIU for eleven years. He also teaches social entrepreneurship at MIT. He sees StartUP FIU as a means to introduce entrepreneurship concepts to the entire South Florida community and start new local high-growth companies to support economic development. Bob is the former CFO of One Laptop per Child, where he practiced social entrepreneurship for three years. Earlier in his career, he built a publicly traded billion dollar company in Indonesia. He is the author of two books on entrepreneurship and a frequent speaker on the subject. What is StartUP FIU? StartUP FIU is a collaborative, entrepreneurship hub for FIU students, faculty and early-stage startup entrepreneurs in South Florida.
