SUMMARY:Tech Beach Networker & Startup Open Mic Night
DESCRIPTION:We are happy to announce that Tech Beach has moved to WeWork’s Lincoln Road location! We are really enjoying our sweet new digs and will be changing up the format of this month’s event to take advantage of WeWork’s awesome setup.\nOn Tuesday\, March 29th\, in addition to FREE BEER AND APPS\, our networker will also include a startup open mic/pitch session!\nFrom 6:30-7:30 members can network and mingle with fellow Tech Beach-ers. From 7:30-8:30\, while we continue enjoying the FREE BEER\, we’ll turn our attention toward a brave few presenters. Each presentation will consist of 5 minutes of mic time. In the first 4 minutes the speaker can either practice their pitch or discuss their project. The final minute will be open for Q&A with the audience.\nThe goal for our open mic night is to provide Tech Beach-ers with the opportunity to gain valuable feedback from our community and to raise awareness for their startup.\nPlease message us or email me at jason@blilielaw.com if you would like to speak next Tuesday as we will set the lineup prior to the event to accommodate as many presenters as possible.

SUMMARY:Tinker Tank #3: Raspberry Pi!
DESCRIPTION:A credit card sized computer that enables development and hardware prototyping has become a staple of the maker movement. This little circuit board has become a disruptive force from basic lights to distributed computer clusters and we want to show you what you can do with it. The agenda of the event is as follows: – Welcome & Thank You’s – What is Raspberry Pi? No\, it’s not your grandma’s homemade kind. – History\, generations\, and it’s global distribution. – The Technology & Capabilities – Projects & Milestones (it went to space\, sorta). – Tinker Tank Missions – Intro’s & Networking If you would like to suggest changes to the agenda\, we’re all ears! Our goal is to maximize the value of the event and inspire others to build. Your feedback will help us do that! Also\, important: Moonlighter has an occupational limit of about 50 humans. We have an RSVP of approximately 30 humans. If you plan to attend and have not RSVP’d\, please do so ASAP. (If you RSVP’d and may not go\, please update your status too!) Lastly\, we have about 4-5 projects submitted by members using Raspberry Pi – we want more! If you have worked on any projects or believe a certain project may be of interested for the rest of the group\, let us know and we will showcase it.

SUMMARY:Music on Demand What.0?
DESCRIPTION:Listening to a song now is likely to involve digital innovation. The music that used to be bought and owned is increasingly an ephemeral choice\, ordered for limited periods when and as wanted. Delivery\, consumption\, and creation changes have been constants of the music industry. The evolutions have been from live to analog formats\, to digital platforms such as compact discs and copies\, to full downloads\, and most recently internet streaming. Each shift has affected the relationship and income split between delivery intermediaries and the artists. Ubiquitous internet access coupled with smart phone and tablet sophistication now offer access that previously required premium services or a PC. Join us as at Music on Demand with our moderators and participants to discuss topic such as: What will be the next iteration of content delivery and distribution? Will it involve music only or incorporate other mediums? Which new delivery platforms will be developed? What role might big data play in target marketing and sales? Will it be easier for new or independent artists to obtain a market for their creations? Will new intellectual property tensions arise?

SUMMARY:From Bits to Bitcoin: Understanding The Blockchain & Digital Currencies
DESCRIPTION:Have you heard of a new currency called bitcoin? Or a new technology called the blockchain? Almost $1BB has been invested into numerous startups over the past four years by prominant Venture Capital firms. Dozens of startups have been formed in Silicon Valley\, New York\, London\, and as far away as Chile and India. And in the past year\, large tech companies and banks have begun to work on new products and services that leverage this new currency and technology. Many companies across the financial services industry are concerned about bitcoin’s potential to substantially disrupt their business. Yet very few people understand what bitcoin is or how it works. Even fewer are able to grasp its potential to disrupt existing financial services or transform various types of transactions\, whether financial or non-financial. This talk will provide you with a basic understanding of the economics and science behind bitcoin and the blockchain. With Bitcoin you can: – Send $1 or $1MM instantly and for free anywhere in the world\, to a family member or a business – Guarantee that funds are received even if you don’t know or trust the recipient – Vote in a government or corporate election\, with instant tallies and fully auditable\, immutable and transparent voting ledgers Questions we will address include: What is bitcoin? How is it created? How do you use it? What is the blockchain? How does it work? Who can use it? How does bitcoin compare with other currencies today? what advantages does it offer? What risks? Is bitcoin secure and reliable? Is it stable as a currency? What problems can bitcoin solve? What problems is it addressing right now? Should you own bitcoin? Where will its price go over time?         Come and learn how the technology behind Bitcoin works\, what problems it is currently trying to solve\, and how you can take advantage of the coming opportunities.

SUMMARY:Spring Break Game Design Camp
DESCRIPTION:Gaming over the years has become a big part of our culture. Play is an integral step in growing up for children by allowing them to explore and test the virtual worlds they play in. We believe that understanding how something is built and then creating your own version leads to non standard learning and socialization. Becoming an active designer in the creation of games is a window into how to organize complex systems. This spring camp\, we will introduce\, analyze and launch very simple games that talk about the thought process and skills necessary to design a game. At the end of the week\, the student will have been introduced to many different types of games\, will analyze and understand how those games were made\,  will design and document an ordinary game\, will create the music/art/logic and finally test out their game…
