SUMMARY:NPR\, Podcasts and Habitual Listening: Why Do We Tune In?
DESCRIPTION:As a product designer and user researcher for NPR\, Scott Stroud studies how and why users listen before he designs NPR’s digital audio experiences.\nWhen people tune in to public radio or subscribe to podcasts like NPR’s Invisibilia\, what keeps them coming back as regular listeners? How does NPR design products to build fulfilling relationships with its audience?\nScott will cover:\n• NPR’s approach to user research and behavioral design.\n• How a tentative research insight may evolve from an assumption to a hypothesis to established patterns and principles.\n• Connecting a news organization’s ethics guidelines with product design.\n• Maintaining a focus on fundamental theories of human behavior and connection to reach future audiences.\nSpeaker Panel\nWe will follow Scott’s talk with a conversation with a local panel of media leaders to discuss how media can reach and foster a connection with audiences in the future. We will announce panelists soon.

SUMMARY:NPR\, Podcasts and Habitual Listening: Why Do We Tune In?
DESCRIPTION:As a product designer and user researcher for NPR\, Scott Stroud studies how and why users listen before he designs NPR’s digital audio experiences. When people tune in to public radio or subscribe to podcasts like NPR’s Invisibilia\, what keeps them coming back as regular listeners? How does NPR design products to build fulfilling relationships with its audience? Scott will cover: • NPR’s approach to user research and behavioral design. • How a tentative research insight may evolve from an assumption to a hypothesis to established patterns andprinciples. • Connecting a news organization’s ethics guidelines with product design. • Maintaining a focus on fundamental theories of human behavior and connection to reach future audiences. We will follow Scott’s talk with a conversation with a local panelof media leaders to discuss how media can reach and foster a connection with audiences in the future…

SUMMARY:Rapid Prototyping for Entrepreneurs
DESCRIPTION:Rapid Prototyping for Entrepreneurs Workshop\nThis workshop is the perfect introduction to rapid prototyping your ideas from day one. You will learn how to use the right tools and skills to go from low to high fidelity designs and validate your ideas without investing much time and money.\nYou will have the opportunity take your idea from hand sketching to wireframing to interactive prototypes. It is one of the fastest ways to test a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) before jumping into programming with developers.\nBy the end of the workshop\, you will have an understanding of the important role a UX Designer plays within a startup and larger organizations. Better yet\, you will leave with a finished prototype that you can test and iterate with potential users.\nAbout The Instructor: Marcelo Paiva\nMarcelo Paiva is the Creative Director for ProcessMAP\, a well known local technology company\, where he has built an amazing cross-functional team of designers and front-end developers\, while enabling a healthy creative environment and a culture of knowledge sharing.\nMarcelo recently moved to South Florida from New York City\, where he gained more than 15 years building efficient UX teams using modern design practices in Agile environments.\nMarcelo is also a committed leader in the local Design and Development community\, as active speaker and co-coordinator of Miami chapter for the Interaction Design Association (IxDA) and Miami React groups\, engaging your designers and students.\nSpecial Thanks to Our Sponsor:\n \nPowered by Eventbrite
