SUMMARY:WordPress Beginner's + Misc Talks
DESCRIPTION:We are planning on having two talks. First talk will be a continuing of previous months’ beginner topics. We would like to hear from you what you might want to cover (recent months we cover themes and plugins – we might cover shortcodes next for example). We also want to see 1 or 2 people share what they are doing w/ WordPress. Kind of a “show and tell” – don’t have to show anything polished. I might have a small “thank you” gift for those who want to talk for 5-10 minutes. Ping me at [masked] if you want to show off your latest (or not so recent) project. *** ASSUME WE ARE MEETING IN ROOM 3035 FOR NOW * * * Parking Pass: Will post one as soon as we get it

SUMMARY:Refresh Workshop: Fundamental Skills of Product Management
DESCRIPTION:There are common elements and skills that are invaluable to every Product Manager. This workshop covers the following topics: Pillars/skills Technical: programming\, good engineering practices\, development stacks and methodologies Analytical: metrics\, A/B testing\, growth\, data-driven decisions Communication: email etiquette\, product specs\, filing bugs Product sense: design challenges\, user studies\, competitors\, making feature decisions Strategy: big ideas\, product launches The workshop is very practical in nature – Fernando offers concrete examples of products and situations to illustrate his points. His goal is for every single participant to walk away with at least 3 specific learnings they can apply at work right away. Audience The workshop is open to anybody who is currently a PM or has the goal of becoming one within a year. It’s ideal for people who are at the beginning of their careers as PMs. What this is not An important point to make: this workshop is NOT about Project/Program Management or Marketing. Those are somewhat related functions\, but they’re ultimately different. To register\, visit our Eventbrite page. About the instructor Fernando Delgado is a Product Management coach and consultant. He started his career as an Associate Product Manager at Google.
SUMMARY:Attend a #Wyncamp Open House!
DESCRIPTION:#Wyncamp is a six-week experience through which high school students with little to no experience will learn how to master The Art of Code. In the spirit of Wyncode’s professional adult boot camps\, Wyncamp is led by a teacher with a passion for 21st-century education. Come to our open house to meet the teacher and the whole Wynfam! Wyncampers will learn everything they need to create functional web applications. They will walk away with an impressive resume and some of the most important knowledge and skills for today’s job market. Why Coding? As of March 2016\, Florida has nearly 25000 open computing jobs\, but only 2000 computer science graduates. While some high schools in Florida do offer computer science\, the Florida Department of Education has not officially adopted any computer science standards. This means that the computer science education a high school student in Florida receives is unregulated and can be irrelevant and outdated when compared to current market trends. We’ve worked hard to develop a curriculum that puts a student on the pathway to these careers while also empowering students pursuing other disciplines to become better able to compete in a challenging job market. Every career\, every industry\, is rapidly being encroached on by tech\, and those without this knowledge will find their skill sets outdated. A depressingly small amount of high schools offer computer science curriculum\, but the percentage of jobs that require technical acumen continues to increase every year. Will you be ready to fill these roles?
